Aim

This course aims to provide the training for the candidates to provide medical first aid on Board Ship, in accordance with Section A-VI/4Table A-VI/4-1 of the STCW Code.

Scope & Objective

This syllabus covers the requirements of the STCW 1995 convention as amended in 2010 Chapter VI/4, Table A-VI/4-1. On meeting the minimum standard of competence in Medical First Aid a trainee will be competent to apply immediate first aid in the event of accident or illness on board.

Entry Standards

For Admission to this course seafarers have completed IMO model course 1.13, a course in Elementary First Aid, or attained a similar standard in elementary first aid.

Medical Standard

As per M.S (Medical Examination for seafarers) Rules 2000 as amended from time to time.

Course Certificate

On successful completion of the course & demonstration of competence, a certificate will be issued certifying that the holder has met the standard of competence specified in Section A VI/2 and Table A-VI/2-2 of STCW 2010.

Intake

Not Above 20 per class

Required Attendance

100% attendance is required for successful completion of the Course. However, in exceptional circumstances the relaxation can be given for genuine reasons.

Exam

A test will be conducted on completion of the Course

Certificate

After Successfully completion and Passing of Exam A certificate will be issued to the Student certifying that he has successfully completed the Course.
