Aim

This course aims to provide a person with the knowledge, skill and understanding of leadership and teamwork at the operational level on board a ship in accordance with STCW Code in the standard of training ,certification and Watch keeping for seafarers Conventions as amended in 2010 and to achievethose standards set out in Table A -II/1 and Table A-III/1.

Scope & Objective

On completion of the course the learner/trainee should be ableto demonstrate sufficient understanding and knowledge of leadership and team working and have the relevant skills to competently carry out the duties of officer in charge of a navigational watch on ships of 500 gross tonnage or more, or officer in charge of an engineering watch in a manned engine- room or designated duty engineer in a periodically unmanned engine-room. The knowledge, understanding and proficiency should include, but not be limited to, those listed in Column 2 of table A-II/1 and table A-III/1 .

Entry Standards

Trainees undertaking this course will, through on-campus learning and onboard experience, have sufficient familiarity with shipboard operations to understand that leadership and teamworking is an essential part of their role on board at the operational level.All Trainees must be certified by a doctor to be in good health.

Medical Standard

As per M.S (Medical Examination for seafarers) Rules 2000 as amended from time to time.

Course Certificate

On successful completion of the course & demonstration of competence, a certificate will be issued certifying that the holder has met the standard of competence specified in Table A –II/1 and Table A-III/1 of STCW 95 as amended in 2010 .

100% attendance is required for successful completion of the Course. However, in exceptional circumstances the relaxation can be given for genuine reasons
