Aim

This course is designed to meet the mandatory minimum standards of competence for seafarers in the use of leadership and management qualities specified in the function: Control of the operation of the ship and caring for persons on board at management level in Table A-II/2 and A-III/2 of the STCW Code.

Scope & Objective

The objective is to provide students with information to acquire the knowledge; understanding and competence necessary to achieve the objectives of the learning results to demonstrate their competence demonstrate enough knowledge corresponding to Regulations II/2, III/2, Sections A-II/2, A-III/2 and Tables A-II/2, A-III/2 of the STCW'78 Convention, as amended. This knowledge shall include, but are not limited to:

  • Related international maritime conventions and recommendations and national legislation.
  • Management and training of shipboard personnel.
  • Task and workload management.
  • Effective management of resources.
  • Decision-making techniques.
  • Development, implementation and monitoring of standard operating procedures.

Entry Standards

The participant shall have:

  • The entry requirements must be in accordance with Regulation II/2 and III/2 of the STCW'78 Convention, as amended.

Medical Standard

As per M.S (Medical Examination for seafarers) Rules 2000 as amended from time to time.

Course Certificate

Once the course has been successfully completed, the participant must receive a course completion document in "Use of Leadership and Managerial Skills”, in accordance with Regulations II/2, III/2, Sections A-II/2, A-III/2 and Tables A-II/2, A-III/2 of the STCW´78 Convention, as amended and its STCW Code.

Intake

Not Above 30 per class

Required Attendance

100% attendance is required for successful completion of the Course. However, in exceptional circumstances the relaxation can be given for genuine reasons

Passing Percentage

70 % or Above

Holidays

Sundays & Govt. Holidays

Exam

A test will be conducted on completion of the Course.

Re Exam

The Student will be given two more attempts if score below 70 %. In case if the student fails to get 70 % or above he needs to join the Course as Fresh.

Certificate

After Successfully completion and Passing of Exam, a certificate will be issued to the Student certifying that he has successfully completed the Course.
