Aim

This course has the purpose of training the instructor in the use and evaluation methodologies with the use of simulators in accordance with providing the competencies required for the training of seafarers, in accordance with the requirements contained in Regulations I/6 and I/12 of the STCW/78 Convention as amended.

Scope & Objective

The objective is to provide students with information to acquire the knowledge; understanding and competence necessary to achieve the objectives of the learning results to demonstrate their competence demonstrate enough knowledge corresponding to Regulations I/6 and I/12, of the STCW´78 Convention as amendedand its STCW Code.
The participant will learn to:

  • Design and conduct a simulator training course.
  • Plan and execute various exercises according to the areas.
  • Develop observation guidelines or other valid, objective and reliable assessment instruments according to the course.
  • Measure the progress of the students and optimize the use of simulators as a tool in the different trainings.
  • At the end of the course, the participant will be able to demonstrate competence in the use of simulators as an educational tool in the training of seafarers.

Entry Standards

The participant shall have:

  • Must be over 18 years old.
  • To have approved the Training Course for instructors.
  • Hold a good health medical certificate.

Medical Standard

As per M.S (Medical Examination for seafarers) Rules 2000 as amended from time to time.

Course Certificate

Once the course has been successfully completed, the participant must receive a course completion document in “Train the Simulator Trainer and Assessor”, in accordance with the Regulations I/6 and I/12; and Sections A-I/6 and A-I/12 of the STCW´78 Convention, as amended and its STCW Code.

Intake

Not Above 30 per class

Required Attendance

100% attendance is required for successful completion of the Course. However, in exceptional circumstances the relaxation can be given for genuine reasons

Passing Percentage

70 % or Above

Holidays

Sundays & Govt. Holidays

Exam

A test will be conducted on completion of the Course.

Re Exam

The Student will be given two more attempts if score below 70 %. In case if the student fails to get 70 % or above he needs to join the Course as Fresh.

Certificate

After Successfully completion and Passing of Exam, a certificate will be issued to the Student certifying that he has successfully completed the Course.
